Seamus came to the UK in 1996/7 season as pupil assistant to Phillip Hobbs. The following season he was champion amateur in the UK before going on to be second in the conditional jockeys title the season after that. He went on to ride just under 500 career winners with victories on top class horses such as Rooster Booster, Looks Like Trouble, Take The Stand, Quazar, Flame Creek, The Last Fling, Snoopy Loopy etc.

Seamus started training in 2011 and has steadily progressed each season showing an aptitude for getting the best out of each horse in his care.

Notable examples are Qaraaba, bought for £10,500 and went on to win four times, going from a rating of 75 to 104 and culminating in a narrow defeat at Royal Ascot where she started favourite for The Wolferton Handicap. She was subsequently sold to the USA where she had two wins from two runs.

The Rectifier is another example of a horse who joined the yard rated 88 and reached a career high mark of 106 after winning four races.

Seamus is very hands on and has a great team behind him with a real focus on making sure the horses perform to their optimum.

Seamus is very open and keen to keep the owners informed and up to date on the horses wellbeing as well as involving them in all the decision making throughout their career.

I’ve only been training for a few years, but we have managed to get a good number of winners, and we have a good number of decent horses on our books. I am constantly looking for quality rather than quantity with my horses and would rather one really good one to train than half a dozen very moderate horses.
